Boosting Utility Company’s Online Presence

 

How does a utility company provide value and increase customer satisfaction through social media?

That’s the question that we had to consider while I was on HLK’s internship team as an Art Director. We were given the mission to create a social media campaign that would boost customer ratings and engagement for HLK’s utility client (for the sake of copyright, the client’s name and property will not be disclosed).

After doing research into their customer base and target audience, we gained an understanding that customers are primarily interested in two things: ways to save money on their utility bill and having a utility company that is trustworthy.

The solution?

Create valuable and applicable content to the customers that shares tips on how to save money by increasing their home’s energy efficiency. With this in mind, I created two graphics for the company’s Pinterest account. The first is an infographic that shares 10 ways to save on your energy bill. The second is a printable chore sheet that parents can utilize to have the whole family be part of making the home more energy efficient, which in turn would help lower their bill.

For these graphics, I designed a set of versatile on-brand icons that can be used in a variety of mediums.

 
 

Since social media videos are extremely useful tools in boosting engagement, I also created a short animation that showcases the money-saving tips in a video format best suited for Facebook and Twitter.
