Celebrating Holidays with Brand Animations

As a senior designer at Obata, I was given the opportunity to create some engaging animations for social media that not only celebrated holidays but also showcased our branding & animation capabilities.

The first animation was in honor of Thanksgiving. Since turkeys are a staple of this holiday, I digitally illustrated a turkey that complemented Obata’s brand palette. From there, I built an animation in AfterEffects where the turkey was essentially playing hide and seek through Obata’s O icon. The cheeky animation was a hit with our team members and clients alike.

When the winter holidays approached, we decided to run with a similar theme of building an animation around Obata’s O icon. The creative team brainstormed different winter holiday staples and we landed on the concept of transforming the icon into a snow globe.

I built a snow globe version of the logo along with a snowman illustration with separate layers in Illustrator. From there, I added the various layers into AfterEffects and built a scene of the logo transforming into a snow globe with an animated friendly snowman.
